Rapper DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, showed up to an Arizona court today after claiming he was in rehab and plead guilty to one count of animal cruelty, one count of theft, and one count each of felony possession of marijuana and a narcotic drug.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 30 where he is expected to receive 90 days in jail. Additional charges of theft and impersonating someone else will be dismissed then.
Meanwhile... In Chicago William Balfour, who was charged with the murders of Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew was officially indicted by a grand jury, a standard legal procedure in Illinois. He faces charges of first-degree murder and home invasion.
Joshua Kutnick, Balfour's attorney, is confident that the state doesn't have a case against his client.
"The police believe it is William Balfour, but the problem is what they have done. They find their suspect and build evidence around the suspect. That's not the way it should work. They should gather evidence and it should lead to a suspect," Kutnick said. "This was the convenient person to go to. It is bolstered by the fact that it took them so long to get him arrested and charged."
