Inauguration Day 2009 Schedule of Events
Today, Barack Obama becomes the 44th president of the United States.
Here's what will happen before, during and after the inauguration.
8AM - Security gates will be opened for the inaugural festivities. Ticket holders are advised to arrive early.
10AM - Preliminary festivities begins. It will be located on the West Front of the U.S. Capital.
The United States Marine Band will play selections, followed by the San Francisco Boys Chorus and the San Francisco Girls Chorus.
Senator Dianne Feinstein will call to order and deliver the welcoming remarks.
Rev. Rick Warren will deliver the Invocation.
Aretha Franklin performs a musical selection.
Joe Biden will be sworn into office by Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.
John Williams, violinist Itzhak Perlman, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, pianist Gabriela Montero and clarinetist Anthony McGill will perform.
12PM - Obama will take the Oath of Office, he will use the Bible Abraham Lincoln used for his inauguration. This will be administered by Chief Justice John Roberts. He will recite these words: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
12:05PM: Now President Obama gives the inaugural address.

The National Anthem: The United States Navy Band “Sea Chanters”
1PM: President Obama escorts former President George W. Bush to a departure ceremony at the Capitol and then he will attend a luncheon at in the Capitol’s sanctuary hall.
2:30PM: Inaugural Parade down Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol to the White House. (Ticket holders must be seated by 1PM. There is open seating along Pennsylvania Avenue.)

2.Obama Home States Inaugural Ball - Illinois and Hawaii invited guests
3. Biden Home States Inaugural Ball - Delaware and Pennsylvania invited guests
4. Midwest Inaugural Ball - KS, IN, IA, MI, MN, ND, NE, OH, SD, WI, and MO invited guests
5. Mid-Atlantic Inaugural Ball - MD, VA, DC, NY, NJ, and WV invited guests
6. Western Inaugural Ball - AK, CA, ID, MT, OR, WA, WY, AZ, CO, NV, NM, UT, OK, GUAM/AS invited guests
7. Commander in Chief’s Ball - hosted by President Obama for men and women in uniform only
8. Southern Inaugural Ball - AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN, and TX invited guests
9. Eastern Inaugural Ball - CT, ME, MA, NH, RI, VT, PR, and USVI invited guests
10. Youth Inaugural Ball - Young Americans aged 18-35
