'Housewife' Sheree Whitfield Sued by Lawyers for Unpaid Legal Fees

When "Real Housewives of Atlanta" castmate Sheree Whitfield sued, then dropped the case against her ex-husband seeking more money, apparently the monies she intended to pay her lawyers hinged on the outcome of the settlement. But she never told her lawyers that.

Levine & Smith, the firm who represented her, is suing for more than $87,000 for unpaid legal fees, plus interest. (The complaint says Sheree owes $69,343.98 in principal going back to May 10, 2006. Interest on the unpaid amount, based on a monthly interest rate of 1.5%, is $17,832.93 through January 31, 2009.)

According to the complaint:
Defendent’s refusal to pay said debt as agreed constitutes an act of bad faith and has caused the Plaintiff unnecessary trouble and expense, thereby entitling Plaintff to an award of its expenses of litigation, including reasonable attorney’s fees in an amount to be proven by the evidence at trial.”

Secondly, Steven Montalto, the attorney representing Levine & Smith, said firm has been unable to find Sheree in order to serve her the summons and a copy of the complaint.

Sheree may have a good reason for not paying these lawyers. According to Mediatakeout, Sheree is broke and when booked for speeding recently she reportedly asked for a court-appointed attorney because she had no money to afford one on her own.

Sad.

Hey, Steve: She'll be in NY tomorrow.
