Bea Arthur, the tough-talking, bawdy character actress who starred in the classic TV sitcoms Maude and The Golden Girls, died Saturday at her home in Los Angeles after battling cancer. She was 86.
Arthur was born Bernice Frankel on May 13, 1922, in New York City. She is survived by her sons and two granddaughters.
