Solange Says Shaved Head is Empowering, Plans to Move to NYC

At last night's BCBG show for Fashion Week, the folks over at New York magazine caught up with Solange for a quick chat about her new 'do. She tells the magazine the shaved head look is something she does every few years when she feels she's losing control.

I did it once when I was 16 and again when I was 18. I just need to kind of start over and liberate myself and feel empowered. I feel like so many women put so much of their power in their hair, and I was succumbing to that — like, spending so much time and money and energy on my hair."

PS: She's also looking for a NYC apartment - with a yard so her 5-year-old son Daniel can play. So, obviously, she's looking for a place in Park Slope or Brooklyn Heights, but something priced right because she's "balling on a budget."
