Professional Shoplifters Blame Dr Phil For Getting Them Arrested

These two are not the brightest bulbs in the box. Last year they went on the Dr Phil show to boast and brag about being professional shoplifters who raked in up to $1 million year then selling the stolen goods on eBay. Obviously - since it was the Dr Phil show - they thought no one was watching.

But the cops got a copy of the tape and Matthew Allen Eaton, 34, and Laura Reese Eaton, 26, were charged with felony conspiracy to transport stolen property.

Now, it gets rich.

The Eatons say Dr Phil promised to foot their legal costs when they got caught and give them treatment for their kleptomania. The show said such offers were never struck.

On the show, Dr Phil did tell them to stop stealing, though.

"You better stop this, and you better stop it right now," he said, "because they're going to burn you down... I'm not just picking on you; I'm trying to help."

The worst part is Matthew and Laura used their three children - ages 4, 2 and 1 - as decoys.

"Sometime we just kind of go in together as a nice little family to make it seem like we're normal and don't look like the kind of people that steal," Matthew said on the show.
