What?! Anna Nicole Smith Was Plotting to Murder Her Husband's Son

Anna Nicole Smith may have acted like a dumb blonde, but, according to the FBI, she - or someone around her who must go unnamed - was plotting to kill her 89-year-old husband's son way back in 2000.

According to recently-released FBI record obtained exclusively by The Associated Press, Anna was investigated in 2000 and 2001 regarding her involvement in a murder-for-hire plot targeting E. Pierce Marshall, who was at the center of a long legal fight to keep her from collecting his father's oil wealth, valued in the hundreds of millions. The younger Marshall died three years ago of natural causes.

During the course of the investigation, Anna said she had no involvement in such a plot.

She told the FBI killing her then sugardaddy husband's son would not have made sense because his money would still be tied up in a trust, and because she believed the court battle over the fortune was nearly over, the report states. She told agents she believed the story about the plot was made up by a former lover angry that she broke off their relationship, according to the files. The FBI didn't say how it became aware of the alleged murder plot.

According to the AP, the FBI confiscated a .357-caliber handgun and a Wesson revolve from Anna's home, along with a 3 1/2-inch stainless steel knife and, for reasons that were not explained, a black-and-orange hat described as "Dr. Seuss." All three objects were returned to her about seven months later.

Anna was 26 when she married the 89-year-old oil tycoon whose wealth was estimated by Forbes to be $550 million in 1992. They met while she was a stripper at a Texas strip club.

He died of natural causes in 1995, little more than a year after their wedding. His son died in 2006 at age 67 of an infection and Anna died of a drug overdose a year later.
