Comedian (is he still telling jokes?) Katt Williams, 38, has been arrested burglarizing someone's home last night. No, really.
According to police, Katt broke into a home in Newnan, about 38 miles southwest of Atlanta. The victim, Daniel Broach, called police around 9pm to report the comedian "gained entry by breaking into the home, and items were taken from the residence."
The homeowner reported that Katt stole $3,555 in jewelry and collectible coins.
He is being held in a Coweta County, Georgia jail awaiting arraignment.
LOL at the fool smiling in his mugshot. Is he really crazy or was he high as hell on cocaine? We wonder how Katt's publicist will spin this one.
Katt, who is believed to be in Georgia working on a film, is no stranger to jail cells.
He was briefly jailed last November after New York police who pull him over for driving without a license plate discovered three guns. Prosecutors dropped weapons charges in July after running into problems proving their case. A judge sentenced Katt to three years' probation in 2006 after he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed firearm after cops at LAX found a gun in his briefcase.
Katt's attorney says his client's arrest stems from a misunderstanding.
TMZ reports: Katt was staying at the home of movie producer Barry Hankerson and was having a dispute with one of Barry's employees who lives in the guesthouse. The employee allegedly called the cops and reported a faux burglary. The attorney said Katt has permission to stay at the home and he's been living there for the last three weeks.
Update (4:30pm): Another bout of bizarre behavior.
The folks over at TMZ got their hands on a this 911 call from a 17-year-old boy who claims Katt (who used to be his friend) was holding him hostage and is threatening to beat his ass. The call was placed on Nov. 3. No charges were filed and police are still investigating. (Sidebar: This situation with this boy sounds a tad bit -- ummm, how do we put this -- How You Doin'.)
Update 2 (5pm): After hearing, Katt remains jailed.
After his arraignment this afternoon, Katt remains behind bars. He was charged with charged with burglary and criminal trespassing and a judge set bail at more than $41,000. Police say Katt used a crowbar to break into the victim's home.
Update 3 (8pm): Activate the alarm when you go to bed tonight and unleash your pitbull, Katt's free.
According to reports, he posted the $41,150 bond is now out of jail.
