It seems as if Discovery Networks won its war with Oprah -- or at least, they got what they wanted. As we told you last week, the network has been in talks with Oprah to rename its cable channel The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) but she had to move her very successful daytime talk show to the network. That was the ultimatum.
Now guess what?
Oprah will announce on Friday's live show that she will end her talk show in 2011 when the current syndication deal expires.
The last show will air Sept. 9, 2011.
Update: Wendy comments on Oprah's departure.
"Oprah is a legend and a ground breaker. She paved the way for so many people. I certainly couldn't be where I am today, hosting my own daytime talk show, if she hadn't come before me, so I'd just like to thank her for that and wish her all the best in her new endeavors."
Update 2: Here's the footage of Oprah making the announcement.

If Oprah really does end up leaving she could always become a full time book promoter
