WATCH: Rachel Maddow Takes Down 'Ex-Gay' 'Psychotherapist' Richard Cohen

On the Rachel Maddow Show last night, Rachel gave Richard Cohen, the "ex-gay" "psychotherapist" who claims gays can choose to be straight, a verbal beatdown. Richard's book inspired a proposed bill in Uganda that would impose the death penalty for some gay Ugandans, and their family and friends could face up to seven years in jail if they fail to report them to authorities. Even landlords could be imprisoned for renting to homosexuals. The country already publishes the names, addresses and photos of people they suspect to be gay. Richard, who is not a licensed therapist, claims your race could make you gay. But Richard forgot he wrote that. "That's not in there.," he told Rachel. "Yes it is. Here I am, page 75 of your book with your name on the cover. I gotta ask you. Every single one of those ideas is insane to me...," she retorts. He then suggests she's taking it out of context, but Rachel tell shim: "I'm reading it from your book, dude!"

Watch.

Update: Uganda will drop the death penalty and life imprisonment for gays in a refined version of an anti- gay bill expected to be ready for presentation to Parliament in two weeks, Bloomberg reports.
