Pastor Pleads Guilty to Selling Drugs Out of Church

Anthony Martinez Garduno, the 51-year-old pastor (now, former pastor) of Our Lady of Tepeyac church in Calif. was arrested last week and faced felony drug charges involving the sale of methamphetamine out of his church, as well as the possession of GBH, date rape drug and Lorazepam, a hypnotic sedative. Yesterday, he plead guilty to all five charges. He also pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property -- a .32-caliber semiautomatic pistol that prosecutors said he knew had been stolen. Police initially went to Anthony's home to investigate charges made by a 17-year-old boy that he and several other boys were sexually assaulted by the pastor and that he was selling drugs at the church. He has not been charged in connection to any sex abuse allegations, however. If you pay attention to the news, Anthony was was shot outside his church last September when he foiled a robbery attempt by five men. (Sidebar: Although he calls his his church Catholic, it's not recognized by the Vatican.)
