11-Year-Old Boy Charged With Sexually Assaulting Three Kids

An 11-year-old boy Lyon County, Iowa, boy has been charged with second-degree sexual abuse after allegedly committing acts with three victims ages 5 to 8 on several occasions, according to the AP.

Lyon County Sheriff Blythe Bloemendaal said the boy was charged Thursday with six counts of sexual abuse, a class B felony. The sheriff said the boy and the victims knew each other, but he wouldn't specify whether they were friends or family members.
Bloemendaal said the boy will likely be tried in juvenile court and presents a vexing case for prosecutors, given his young age.

Iowa law specifies that contact with genitals on children under age 12 requires a charge of second-degree sexual abuse.

"Were they harmed by him? Well, of course, it is a sex act," Bloemendaal said.

Authorities have not released the boy's name.
