Escaped Convict Tries to Bite Off Fingerprints While On the Run

A 21-year-old ex-con tried to gnaw off his own fingerprints after escaping from a police cruiser, according to The Asbury Park Press.

Keith D. Simmonds Jr. was arrested on drug charges after police found weed in the car on Sunday in New Jersey. While being transported to jail, he manuevered himself out of the handcuffs, kicked out the side window of the police car and hauled ass.

He was found Monday afternoon with bloodied fingertips and the handcuffs in his pocket. While police were arresting him, he started to fight them.

Police have charged him with three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest with force, hindering apprehension by providing false information to police, receiving stolen property (the handcuffs), tampering with evidence for allegedly biting his own fingers in attempt to get rid of his fingerprints and unlawful possession of handcuffs.

In 2006, he was charged with attempted murder; He received probation.

Next time he should look into getting his fingerprints surgically removed. They do that nowadays.
