The 93-year-old woman was discovered Tuesday morning at her home in the Tioga Presbyterian Apartments at 1531 W. Tioga Street. Fire department rescuers tell Action News that the woman's social worker called staff members of the home when she didn't answer the phone. Staffers then went to her apartment and found her in the bathroom. She had apparently fallen into the toilet and could not get out. There was an emergency cord near the toilet, which is used to alert staffers of the facility. Investigators are still trying to determine if she failed to use it, or if she did use it and it didn't work. The woman had not been heard from since some time on Sunday. She was taken to Temple University Hospital where she was last reported to be in stable condition. The Tioga Presbyterian is an independent living facility. We could only imagine how absolutely terrified she must've been. After you read this, go say hello to your elderly neighbor.
