Houston police and the DA office have officially filed assault charges against two people with the beating of Richard King, a former West Point cadet, outside Bush Intercontinental Airport last March. Misdemeanor assault charges were filed against hairdresser Norma Harris, 63, and bodyguard Efrem Holmes, 43. Investigators have issues warrants for their arrests. Richard claims Patti ordered the bodyguards to attack him while she sat in her limo and looked on in approval. He's since filed a lawsuit against the singer and her three bodyguards (one of whom is her son) and in a stunning turn of events, Miss Patti filed a countersuit against the 23-year-old cadet claiming he was throwing racial slurs and screaming obscenities while trying to enter the her limousine. The surveillance video which has been released supports Richard's story. According to official court documents, this is what happened: Richard and Zuri Edwards (Patti's son and limo driver) exchanged words. Zuri was seen bumping Richard with his chest. Richard pushed away. Then came Efrem, who struck Richard with his hand as Zuri watched. Then Efrem and Norma pushed Richard, causing him to fall back on a concrete pillar. The initial police investigation named Richard as the suspect in the case, but since the lawsuit was filed, the Houston police department reopened its investigation and it is also looking into the actions of two officers who were seen on the surveillance video taking photos with Miss Patti after the beatdown and while standing in a pool of Richard's blood.
