As this reporter says, this is a story that's hard to make up. A man from Taylorsville, Utah was trying to shoot a mouse in his kitchen with a 9mm handgun, but the bullet went through the wall and landed in his roommate's chest. But the story doesn't there: As cops were investigating the accidental shooting, they found a 13-year-old girl hiding in a basement closet. The girl told police she was at the house to see her boyfriend, 34-year-old Paul Daniel Kunzler, whom she has been sleeping with for four months. Suffice it to say, Paul (who wasn't the roommate shot) was taken to jail.
Just in time for the holiday season, the British Transport Police released this surveillance video to show the dangers of being under the influence at train stations. In the video, a drunk woman was exiting a train when she stumbles backwards and falls on to the tracks. She was recovered from the track and taken to hospital suffering from cuts and bruises.

The FDA has given scientists at the University of Western Ontario approval to begin testing of the world's first HIV/AIDS vaccine. The Phase I trial will begin in January and will include 40 volunteers who already have HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. If the initial trial is successful, it will be followed by further clinical trials to determine whether the SAV001 vaccine is effective against HIV.
