Baby Girl High on Bath Salts Arrested

Parenting FAIL: Someone actually named their child "Baby Girl Drinkard."
Police say a Muncie woman was so affected by a recent ingestion of bath salts Wednesday that she couldn't provide accurate information about her children to officers. Baby Girl Drinkard, 29, 729 S. Elm St., is preliminarily charged with neglect of a dependent and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, each a Class D felony carrying a standard 18-month prison term. According to a Muncie Police Department case report, city police were dispatched to the 200 block of East Gilbert Street around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday to check the welfare of a mother "on the street with her three children." When they arrived, officers observed Drinkard, who was holding her newborn son, standing on the sidewalk with her two other children, both younger than 5. Drinkard -- who gave the infant to a friend while speaking with police -- reportedly became "irrational," "was crying uncontrollably" and "had trouble keeping her balance ... and forming complete sentences" as she spoke with Muncie police officer Kyle Monroe. One woman told police Drinkard "had been using bath salts the last few hours and was acting weird when she was inside her house." She said Drinkard had been ingesting Crystal Clean, a chemical cleaner....According to the report, when asked for information about her children, Drinkard had difficulty spelling the name of one child and recalling the date of birth of another....Drinkard's three children were placed in the custody of their grandmother, according to the report.

Sidebar: Another report says her name is Melisa Kay Drinkard. Either way, Ms Drinkard is a mess.
