Rutgers University Basketball Coach Abuse, Berate Players

The head coach of the Rutgers University men’s basketball team Mike Rice has done lost his damn mind. In newly-released video, Mike is seen yelling homophobic slurs at his players, kicking them, grabbing them and shoving them. He also throws basketballs at their legs, their heads and their bodies from point-blank range — as if he were playing dodge ball. The video, which was filmed during team practices from 2010 to 2012, was compiled by Eric Murdock, a former Rutgers director of player personnel. According to his attorney, Eric reported the coach's actions last summer. As result, he was fired. In December, after seeing the video, Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti fined coach rice $50,000 and suspended him for three games. Even after the video went viral today, Tim maintains that the coach will not be fired. That may change tomorrow. Or after he gets his legs broken by some pissed off parents or embarrassed players.

Update, April 3: In news that should surprise no one -- not even Mike Rice -- the university has fired Mike Rice. In a statement issued this morning, the school said: "Based upon recently revealed information and a review of previously discovered issues, Rutgers has terminated the contract of Mike Rice." Wonder when we'll get news of Tim's termination. Or that of the university's president.
