Convicted Murderer Overpowers Guard, Escapes from Jail, Is Now on the Run With 15-year-old Girl

A convicted murderer who escaped from Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee, Illinois early Wednesday is considered armed and dangerous. Kamron T. Taylor, 23, overpowered a correctional officer about 3 a.m. and took his keys and uniform. Kamron then left the jail and stole the officer’s SUV, which he later abandoned. Police have also issued a missing person alert for 15-year-old Savannah Bell, who's believed to be traveling with the escapee. Police would not comment on their relationship, but everybody knows what the tea is. Kamron was awaiting sentencing for killing a man during a failed robbery in June 2013. (He shot the man in head on his front porch during a scuffle with a man demanding money.) He has a history of escapes: He escaped after his arrest in 2013 but was detained several blocks away and he tried to escape from the courthouse minutes after hearing the guilty verdict last February. He faces a sentence of 45 years to life.

Update: Savannah has been located and she's safe. Kamron remains on the lam.
