Lady Charged With Murdering 1-month-old Daughter Who 'Frustrated' Her
After a 15-month-long investigation into the death of her 30-day-old daughter, Damira Latham was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, assault and child abuse in the first degree resulting in death. After she was arrested, the 21-year-old Baltimore woman confessed "to being frustrated by the baby, while sitting, slamming the baby down on her legs, causing the infant’s head to snap back and strike a television stand,” according to police. Back on Feb. 18, 2014, police was called to Damira's home, where they found the baby clinging to life; she died at the hospital. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner concluded the child, whose name was Melody Johnson, died from head injuries.
