Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has been dogged by questions about former President Bill Clinton since his rescue mission to North Korea, blew a gasket yesterday while in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Secretary has been on a seven-nation, 11-day trek across Africa to press causes she has championed on battling AIDS, corruption and the oppression of women.
During a meeting at a Congolese university in Kinshasa, a student took the microphone to ask a question about a multi-billion dollar Chinese loan offer to Congo and then added, through a translator, "What does Mr Clinton think about it?"
"Wait, you want to know what my husband thinks? My husband is not the secretary of state - I am," Hillary said angrily. "You ask my opinion, I will tell you my opinion. I'm not goingto channel my husband."
Honestly, we kinda agree with her, because question made no sense. Maybe it was the translator.
ABC News got to the bottom of the story.
The student who asked the offending question approached Hillary later and said he was trying to ask what "President Obama" and not Bill Clinton thought about the Chinese loan.
State Department officials the student's question went like this: "Thank you. Mrs. Clinton, we've all heard about the Chinese contracts in this country. The interference is from the World Bank against this contract. What does Mr. Clinton think through the mouth of Mrs. Clinton and what does Mr. Mutombo think on this situation? Thank you very much."
So, there you have it.
