Court: Sex-Change Surgery is Tax Deductible

Rhiannon O'Donnabhain, a former construction engineer who spent more than $25,000 for sex-reassignment surgery in 2001 to become a man, sued the IRS in 2007 after the agency ordered she return the $5,000 refund check it initially sent her because it found that the surgery was "cosmetic" -- and therefore not tax deductible.

But after a long legal fight, the U.S. Tax Court sided with Rhiannon and ruled yesterday she should be allowed to deduct the costs of treating her gender-identity disorder, including hormone therapy and sex-reassignment surgery.

She could have avoived all this mess had she went to Cuba get nip and tucked. Last time we checked, sex-change surgeries in Cuba are libre.
