If you live in New York (or care about New York politics) then you know hell is breaking loose in Albany. The state's first African-American governor David Paterson announced in a press conference this afternoon that he will not run for election. Why? The New York Times found out that he (allegedly) called a woman -- who claimed the governor's right-hand-man David Johnson aka "DJ", beat her ass -- and told her not to show up for her court date the next morning. Governor Paterson also (allegedly) dispatched State Troopers (out of their jurisdiction) to the woman's Brooklyn home to pressure her not to press charges against DJ, who was once her boyfriend. A mess! Anyway, the NBC affiliate in New York obtained an audiotape of the woman at the center of the political takedown.
