Police in Gainesville, Fla. have charged John Russell Eddy Jr. with a slew of charges, including aggravated battery, assault on an officer, battery, fleeing and eluding police after he beat the crap out of his transgender girlfriend because of "pride" on Sunday then led them on a high-speed car chase through two Florida counties
John, who is a registered sex offender, knew his 33-year-old girlfriend of two months is transgender, but once his family and friends found out about the relationship, he "freaked out" about it, according to the Gainesville Sun. He denied knowing the woman and planned to "create a show" so he could "reclaim his pride" with his family.
So, he drove his girlfriend to his family's home on Sunday, pulled her out of the car by her hair and proceeded to punch her in the head then slammed her head to the ground. According to the victim, other members of the family beat her in the face with hammers. She lost consciousness and John ran over her with HER car (leaving tire marks on her shirt) then led cops on a two-county chase.
The woman is expected to recover. John may face an addiontional charge of attempted murder. Plus, he may also be charged with a hate crime.
