Former NFLer Turned Serial Armed Robber Arrested

A former NFL player was arrested in Duncanville, Texas on Tuesday after he attempted to rob a 7-Eleven at gunpoint. According to police, 44-year-old Darren "Tank" Lewis -- who played for the Chicago Bears for two seasons -- barged into the convenience store and demanded money and when the clerk refused, he shot the clerk in the thigh. Police are also investigating Darren for a string of similar robberies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Darren, who is/was addicted to cocaine, had a promising future as a football player, but as you know, drugs are the devil! He was previously arrested for vehicular theft, shoplifting and probation violations. In 1993 he was released from the Bears after he was involved in a "domestic dispute." No charges were filed. Since then, his life has been in a downward spiral.
