This story would be funny if it wasn't true. Actually, it still is funny and very Florida-ish, but alas, this craziness too place in Gary, Indiana this morning.
Gary police Cpl. Marcus Harris was at his second job, working security at the Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus, when his father arrived. The visit, however, wasn't friendly and ended when Harris arrested his father, Edward Harris, 68, of Schererville. He is charged with intimidation, police said. Cpl. Harris wrote in his report that shortly before 10 a.m. Monday, he saw his father's black truck park behind one of the hospital security vehicles, blocking it in. Edward Harris started walking toward his son, pointing his finger, shouting and cursing, the report states. The officer told his father that he could not be on the property unless he was seeking medical attention or visiting a patient, but the warnings were ignored, the report states. After several verbal exchanges, the man began to leave, but angrily suggested that his son step out in front of his truck, which Cpl. Harris said made him feel threatened. His father left and drove north on Grant Street to McDonald's on 5th Avenue, where Harris detained his father until Patrolman Keith Richardson arrived to take the elder Harris into custody.Awkward.
