A man was charged with burglary after police found him drinking a beer inside a Holmes Beach home he claimed to co-own with Mariah Carey. Officers responded at 9:02 a.m. Sunday to a possible burglary in progress at a home in the 100 block of White Avenue, according to the Holmes Beach Police Department. Officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in the driveway, music coming from inside the residence and a shattered window, according to police. Jason Lowell James, 35, was allegedly inside the home drinking a beer. James claimed that he has lived at the residence for 17 years and that Mariah Carey is a part owner of the property, according to police. Instead, the property is owned by Wesley Beck ATEM Partnership, who reported that no one should be inside the home. James, who is charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, is being held at the Manatee County jail.
