Building Explodes, Collapses in New York City
A gas explosion ripped through four buildings, leaving at least 12 people injured in in New York City's East Village neighborhood Thursday afternoon. Construction workers inside a sushi restaurant called Sushi Park which was located at 121 Second Ave. accidentally hit a gas line, causing an explosion that injured 12 people, sparked a massive fire and caused two buildings to collapse. The fire quickly rose to 7 alarms with approximately 250 firefighters on the scene as people who lived in the apartments above the restaurant can been seen fleeing the burning building via the fire escape.
