Police called to an apartment complex by neighbors who reported hearing a child crying said they found a toddler stuck in a toilet and marijuana growing in another room. The 2-year-old boy had used the toilet, then fell in and got stuck, according to police reports. Neighbors called police at 11:04 a.m. Thursday to report hearing a child crying for about one half hour in the Skyline Terrace apartment in the 900 block of Kingston Drive SE, said Lt. James Cole of the patrol division. The neighbors told police they had knocked repeatedly on the door but no one answered. No one answered the door for police, either. Officers contacted a maintenance worker with a key and entered the apartment, Cole said. The officers said they found the crying child in the bathroom. No one else was in the home. They freed the child, tried to find the boy’s parents and notified county social workers. They also found three marijuana plants growing in a cupboard in another room, Cole said. The jail records said the officers seized the plants and digital scales. Cole said that the boy’s mother was found nearly two hours later walking up to the apartment complex. She was carrying Wal-Mart bags. She told police that her sister was supposed to be baby-sitting, but she did not know her sister’s last name, Cole said. Investigators believe she had left the child alone and had gone shopping, he said. Officers also found the boy’s father hours after the child had been freed from the toilet, Cole said. Justice M. Chance and Rashaad M. Cuffee, both 20 and residents of Apt. 6 at 914 Kingston Dr. SE, were arrested about 1 p.m. Thursday and booked into the Stark County Jail, the jail records said. Each was charged with endangering children, illegal cultivation of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to court officials, a criminal summons has been issued for simple assault against Peter Thomas. Thomas is the husband of Cynthia Bailey and has been on the RHOA for five seasons. Thomas opened Sports One Bar, along the 500-block of North College Street, in 2014. According to a police report, officers were called to the uptown Charlotte bar early Sunday morning around 1:25 a.m. A 45-year-old man told police he was assaulted in the bar. The man called WBTV and claimed Thomas assaulted him. According to the police report, officers consulted with an off-duty police officer and a witness to the alleged incident and determined no assault occurred. Monday, a Mecklenburg County judge reviewed the police report and issued a summons for Thomas' arrest on simple assault. As of Monday afternoon, that summons had not been served.Update, Jan. 26: The victim, identified as Brandon Patrick Link, says he was hospitalized for minor injuries after the alleged attack. Peter denies the allegations, saying Brandon was kicked out the bar for being intoxicated and injured himself when he slipped on ice.

Village officers arrested Edelman Nogueira, 42, Wednesday after he allegedly punched his neighbor in the back of the head. He is facing charges of battery and burglary of an occupied dwelling. Nogueira was being held without bail Thursday night at the Palm Beach County Jail. At one point, officers had to place him in a body restraint because he had become”very aggressive,” according to police arrest report made public Thursday. Officers were called shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Rex Avenue, south of Forest Hill Boulevard and west of Congress Avenue. According to the report, a 39-year-old resident told officers he had just come home from a gym and was walking to his apartment when Nogueria asked if he would have a drink with him. The man declined, explaining to Nogueria that his wife had dinner waiting. As his neighbor kept walking, Nogueria punched him, police said. The neighbor turned around to tell Nogueria to stop, then continued to his apartment. When the neighbor opened his front door, Nogueria allegedly forced his way inside and struck the neighbor with an open hand. A brief struggle ensued before the neighbor was able to force Nogueria out and lock the door, the report said. When officers arrived, Nogueria was placed into custody and taken to a holding cell at the police department. He reportedly kicked and punched the glass holding cell, prompting officers to put him in the body restraint.
