A homeless Hawthorne man was arrested Sunday night after he was accused of slapping an Alachua County sheriff's deputy who had given him a ride from Hawthorne to Waldo. At 8:39 p.m., ASO deputies were called to an Alachua County Fire Rescue Station in Hawthorne to help a drunken man identified as 57-year-old Rodney Timothy Shaw, according to an arrest report. ACFR paramedics told a deputy that Shaw did not need medical attention but did not want to walk to his sister's home nearby. The deputy agreed to give him a lift there. The deputy brought Shaw to his sister's house, and she refused to allow him inside. Shaw then asked for a ride to the Classic Inn in Waldo, about eight miles away, the report states. The deputy agreed to help him. But after they arrived at the motel, at 14925 NE U.S. 301, Shaw got out, turned to the deputy, uttered an obscenity and slapped him in the forearm, the report states. “The defendant laughed and started to walk away,” the deputy wrote in the report. The deputy placed Shaw in handcuffs and booked him into the Alachua County jail on a charge of battery on a law enforcement officer, a third-degree felony. As of Monday afternoon, Shaw remained in custody in lieu of $20,000 bond. According to Alachua County court records, he has faced several charges over the past 30 years, ranging from robbery to driving without a valid license. Florida Department of Corrections records show Shaw served 10 prison sentences from 1975 to 2013 and has been previously convicted on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer.

A groom tried to kill himself after seeing his "ugly" arranged marriage bride for the first time. Kang Hu, 33, claimed bride Na Sung, 30, would be "bad for his image" after he walked out of the ceremony and threw himself in a nearby river. The 33-year-old had stunned guests at the wedding in the city of Shiyan, in central China’s Hubei province, when he apologised to his bride before telling her she was "too ugly". Pal Chan Wang said: "It was a very awkward moment for everyone. "The bride was devastated, her family were furious, his family were furious, and we his friends were embarrassed. "Kang has very exact tastes and had been forced into this marriage." The groom was spotted several hours later wandering along a river bank shortly before throwing himself in the water. Passers-by called police who were able to rescue him. Qan Tsui, 25, who took photos of the rescue, said: "He was fully clothed and floating face down in the water. "He was unconscious and I thought he was dead. When the police arrived one jumped in and dragged him ashore with the help of foremen who put a rope around his chest to pull him out before pumping his chest. They saved his life." Kang was rushed to hospital where doctors said he was in a stable condition. He later explained: "I feel bad about what happened but when I saw her she wasn’t what I had expected and I realised she would be bad for my image. My parents had arranged this and I couldn’t see any way out apart from suicide."They take beauty very serious there in China. Excessive yawning, whistling and too much laughter could possibly find you detained by airport security agents for further questioning, according to a recently released list. The SPOT Referral Report, which stands for "Screening of Passengers by Observation Techniques," was obtained a week ago by The Intercept, which claims the unclassified report is a "closely held" Transportation Security Administration (TSA) document detailing what Behavior Detection Officers look for when observing suspicious travelers and possible terrorists at the nation's airports. Actions appearing on the 92-point checklist featured on The Intercept were divided into categories such as "stress factors," "fear factors" and "signs of deception," and ranged from "appears to be in disguise" and "face pale from recent shaving of beard" to "excessive yawning," "excessive throat clearing" and "gazing down." TSA would neither confirm or deny to ABC News whether the specific indicators listed in the leaked report are used by officials or other parts of the administration. But a spokesperson did acknowledge that it does use behavior detection and analysis. "Behavior detection, which is just one element of the TSA's efforts to mitigate threats against the traveling public, is vital to TSA’s layered approach to deter, detect and disrupt individuals who pose a threat to aviation," said a TSA spokesperson. Detractors of the SPOT practice contend that many of the behaviors listed on the report are no different from how regular travelers appear when passing through airport security. Meanwhile, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) recently sued the TSA for not releasing SPOT documents, saying the program encourages racial profiling. “What we know about SPOT suggests it wastes taxpayer money, leads to racial profiling, and should be scrapped,” said Hugh Handeyside, staff attorney with the ACLU National Security Project in a statement announcing the lawsuit. “The TSA has insisted on keeping documents about SPOT secret, but the agency can’t hide the fact that there’s no evidence the program works. The discriminatory racial profiling that SPOT has apparently led to only reinforces that the public needs to know more about how this program is used and with what consequences for Americans’ rights.” But the TSA defended its program in a statement to ABC News. “Terrorists have used a variety of items and ways to attempt to inflict harm to aircraft -- everything from shoes to liquids — but consistent across all methods of attack is the malicious intent of the actor," said a TSA spokesperson. "Looking for suspicious behavior is a common sense approach used by law enforcement and security personnel across the country and the world, that focuses on those behavioral indicators, rather than items, and when used in combination with other security layers helps mitigate a variety of threats." But normal individuals with "strong body odor," "trembling hands," "protruding neck arteries" or exhibiting other factors noted on the report shouldn't have cause for immediate worry, cautioned the administration. "No single behavior alone will cause a traveler to be referred to additional screening or will result in a call to a law enforcement officer," the TSA spokesperson said, adding, "Officers are trained and audited to ensure referrals for additional screening are based only on observable behaviors and not race or ethnicity.”We don't know about you, but we would rather stand there in line and withstand the inconvenience at airport security than risk some nutjob with nefarious intentions getting on a plane with us. He said he and his teacher walked to his home earlier that day so that his teacher could speak with Johnson about the boy's behavioral problems. Once the teacher left the boy's home, Johnson allegedly told him he was going to get a "whooping" and then hit him in the head with a baseball bat. The boy said his stepmother then hit him in the face with her fist and struck him on the arm with a gold belt. According to the charges, she also told the boy, "I'm going to grab the gun and kill you." The boy said that's when he fled to the school in his pajamas. When officers spoke to Johnson at her home, she told them she never hit the boy. Police later found the baseball bat and arrested Johnson. The boy's father then jumped up and said, "I whoop that kid but it doesn't do any good," according to the charges.Tashay was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and malicious punishment of a child.

Tampa police arrested a 25-year-old burglar after a mother found him nude in bed with her 10-year-old son. According to the booking log, police arrested Ernest Reed Johnson at 8:30 Sunday morning, about four hours after they were initially called. Police initially responded to a burglary call near N. 22nd Street and E. Rampart around 4:34 Sunday morning. Upon arrival, the boy's mother told police how she had found the burglar in bed with her son and that the man had jumped out the window he forcibly entered once discovered. The K9 police unit was able to track down Johnson and arrest him. Johnson does not appear to be registered in the state sex offender database. He's been charged with lewd and lascivious molestation, burglary of an occupied dwelling and possession of burglary tools.

McDonald's is going to experiment with serving breakfast all day, according to Janney Capital Markets. "Our industry sources inform us that McDonald's US plans to test all-day breakfast — breakfast items for sale throughout the 24-hour day — in one domestic market, with the test set to begin within the next month or two," the firm says in a research note. Testing all-day breakfast "makes sense," Janney Capital Markets analyst Mark Kalinowski says. Some of the most "craveable" items on the McDonald's menu are the McMuffins and McGriddles, he notes. But it could also cause major operational problems. McDonald's stops serving breakfast at 10:30 a.m. in most markets because its grills aren't big enough to handle breakfast and lunch items. "It comes down to the sheer size of kitchen grills," the company says on its website. "They simply don't have the room for all of our menu options at one time — especially considering we use our grill to prepare many items on our breakfast menu."McDonald's has not yet commented on this report.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence on Thursday signed into law a religious freedom bill that could allow businesses and individuals to deny services to gays on religious grounds. Supporters of the bill, which was passed overwhelmingly by both chambers of the Republican-controlled state legislature, say it will keep the government from forcing business owners to act in ways contrary to strongly held religious beliefs. Opponents say it is discriminatory. "The Constitution of the United States and the Indiana Constitution both provide strong recognition of the freedom of religion but today, many people of faith feel their religious liberty is under attack by government action," said Pence, in a statement after signing the bill. Legal experts say the Religious Freedom Restoration Act sets a standard that will allow people of all faiths to bring religious freedom claims. Gay rights groups worry it will be used by businesses that do not want to provide services for gay weddings, although those cases would probably end up being fought out in court. Gay marriage became legal in Indiana last year following an appeals court ruling.The state is expected to lose millions of dollars because large corporations, like Salesforce and the NCAA, which is based in Indianapolis, are all planning or considering to move their business elsewhere.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim moved into her grandmother’s home in June 2014. Guider, the grandmother’s boyfriend, also lived in the home. The victim told police that “one night, shortly after she moved into this home, she was watching television upstairs in her grandmother’s room. She was lying on the bed when the defendant came in. The defendant told her that ‘this is how [you] make money.'” The complaint indicates the victim “tried to get her grandmother’s attention by screaming, but the defendant put his hand over her mouth.” Guider then allegedly assaulted the 10-year-old girl. According to the criminal complaint, the victim “recalls various instances” where Guider attempted to have sex with her. The complaint also states the victim told her grandmother in December that Guider had been “messing with her,” but the grandmother apparently did not believe the victim. In January, the grandmother took the girl to a pediatrician who said she should be taken to Children’s Hospital. The grandmother did not act on this advice. In March, the girl’s mother noticed her daughter “appeared pregnant.” The girl was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital where doctors confirmed the girl was pregnant and due “at the end of May or the beginning of June.” If convicted, Guider faces up to 60 years in prison.What a despicable piece of crap. A 32-year-old woman was arrested on several felony charges after witnesses said she exposed her newly augmented breasts to adults and children and performed a sex act on a teenage boy at a Bar Mitzvah in a north Scottsdale home. Scottsdale police Sgt. Ben Hoster said Lindsey Radomski admitted to officers she remembered exposing her breasts, but said she was too drunk to remember any other encounters. Radomski was among 80 to 100 guests at the Saturday affair and showed her revamped breasts to five adults, who warned her not to show them again, Hoster said. But Radomski later exposed her breasts to a group of juveniles by a backyard swimming pool and was told by adults to "sleep it off" in one of the house's bedrooms, Hoster said. But Sunday morning, after most of the party guests had gone home or were asleep, Radomski allegedly invited seven boys ages 11 to 15 years old into the bedroom and allowed them to touch her breasts, Hoster said. All but a 15-year-old boy left the room, and the boy said Radomski performed a sex act on him, Hoster said. The encounter was told to the victim's parents the next day and they reported it to police, Hoster said. Radomski was interviewed Tuesday, arrested and booked into jail on two counts of sexual conduct with a minor, seven counts of sexual abuse, 12 counts of felony indecent exposure and two counts of misdemeanor exposure, Hoster said.She's since deleted all of her social media accounts.

Although police are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death, sources said it appears the boy died of strangulation and the girl from blunt-force trauma. Police sources said Blair is being held on suspicion of child abuse, and they will await a cause of death before seeking murder charges. Blair was arrested Tuesday in the Martin Luther King apartments on the city's near east side, where court bailiffs discovered the bodies while removing the freezer from the woman's townhouse after Blair was ordered evicted for nonpayment of rent. Blair has not been charged with the killings, although police planned to submit a warrant request to prosecutors, sources said. Blair's Facebook profile declared: "Loyal to my babies." One recent post was of the words: "There is no greater blessing than being called Mom." "This is so tragic," said neighbor Tori Childs. "I know she really flew off the handle when she found out (the relative) was being molested." Childs said she saw the children's bodies inside the home Tuesday shortly after police arrived. "When we walked past, we saw two bodies on the floor," said Childs, 33. "It was a little girl and a little boy. The little girl had on a pink jacket." Childs said Blair told her, "I'm sorry" before police took her away in handcuffs. Childs' mother, Carrie McDonald, also lives in the complex and said she spoke by phone Tuesday morning with Blair. "She told me this morning, 'Ms. Carrie, if you don't never see me again just know that I love you,' " McDonald said. "I love her. The mother is a beautiful person. She was just going through some things." Neighbors said when they asked about the two missing children, Blair told them they were living with an aunt. They also said Blair home-schooled her children; Detroit Public Schools officials said there was no record of the children ever enrolling in the district.She got one thing right: She will never, ever, be a free woman again.

Judge Colleen McMahon called Rosemond’s crimes “heinous” but lamented to the 50-year-old that “there’s nothing I can do to alter your fate.” Rosemond — who declined to address McMahon before being sentenced — targeted Fletcher for his affiliation with the rap group G-Unit with which Rosemond had been feuding. Rosemond wanted someone to pay for his teen son being slapped by G-Unit co-founder Tony Yayo in 2007, authorities said. The attack on Rosemond’s then-14-year-old son occurred after Yayo, fellow co-founder 50 Cent and others in the G-Unit crew spotted him in Manhattan wearing a shirt that advertised his father’s rival music management company Czar Entertainment, police sources said. Yayo, whose real name is Marvin Bernard, was harassing the kid at the direction of 50 Cent, allegedly showing a gun tucked into his waist. He then pushed the kid up against a wall, started asking him why he was wearing the shirt and smacked him. For two years after the assault, Rosemond tried to make good on his vendetta, prosecutors said. This included organizing at least three failed drive-by shootings aimed at G-Unit associates, including one outside radio station Hot 97’s offices in Manhattan. Prosecutors say Rosemond paid off Brian “Slim” McCleod with a “slab” of cocaine worth $30,000 to lure Fletcher to a Bronx street corner in September 2009 where fellow thug Derrick “D” Grant pumped bullets into Fletcher. Rosemond – who has long been suspected of involvement in the 1994 non-fatal shooting of slain rap icon Tupac Shakur in Manhattan – once mingled with the likes of Jay-Z, Akon and Sean Combs. He was found guilty by a federal jury in Brooklyn in 2013 of using his thriving record label as a front for a coast-to-coast cocaine ring.According to U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, Jimmy bragged to an associate after the killing that he would never be caught because Lowell was merely a "gangbanger" who died in the Bronx. While handing down her sentence, Judge McMahon called Jimmy's conduct "heinous," "vile" and "disgusting" before throwing all the books in the New York Public library at him.
